To Trick or To Treat – That is the Question?

Here at WikiParty headquarters, local residents go to town each year for Halloween

With this years’ festivities falling on FRIDAY 31st October it is looking like being bigger than a Witches cauldron.

Over the years general consensus has baulked at the idea of celebrating Halloween in Australia considering it to be “an American” activity.

Did you know the origins of Halloween are not from the northern regions of the USA, but a Celtic tradition instead? Check out Halloween History online, if you don’t believe me.

The locals here have become so overwhelmed by the focus on their area each year – I guess when people are coming in by the bus load, the original intent of getting neighbours together for a bit of ghoulish fun has blown out of all proportion!

So we’d like to help you prepare for your own local celebrations and get your families into the Halloween community spirit, based on some of the activities we’ve enjoyed in the past.

Essentially, the evening is about the KIDS – so don’t lose sight of that folks!

We have found the door knocking starts earlier and earlier each year as eager little goblins and witches hyperventilate at the thought of their pending sugar fix.

What we’ve tended to do is get a small group of friends together to prepare and as they’re doing that prime them with fresh fruit and veg afternoon snacks, washed down with plenty of water.

I know, it doesn’t sound like much fun but as least you know they’re heading out on a full tummy Mummy!

Agree who the escorting parents are to keep and eye on the Gremlins

Try to make sure that they understand only one treat from each house’s loot is best. Although, we here at the Party People have been readily available to restock the stash in the past, it is heartbreaking to see your individually wrapped treats ground into the pavement when littlies have missed out in the frenzy!

Have a neat little loot bag ready and once its full it’s time to start sharing.

Many households can often end up leaving signs at their front door saying “Sorry, we’re all out of treats… Trick!” often before the wolves start baying at the moon!

So, tell us… what do you have up your sleeves this Halloween?
