Satisfy your sweet tooth.
Based on Marvel Comics’ superhero character, this is a story of Peter Parker who is a nerdy high-schooler turned into a real life superhero, saving the world one day at a time. Now this superhero comes to life in the kitchen with some sticky toffee apples.
What you’ll need…
- Apples
- 3/4 cup water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon red food coloring
- 3 wood skewers
- 3 granny smith apples
How to…
- Clean and dry apples. Place skewers down the center of each apple. Set aside on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.
- In a medium saucepan, stir together the water, sugar, light corn syrup, and red food coloring. Place Thermometer
in the saucepan. Place saucepan over medium heat and stir until mixture begins to boil. Once it starts to boil stop stirring and let temperature rise to 310 degrees – this will take about 5-10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let all the bubbles settle to ensure a smooth coating – takes about 30 – 60 seconds. Take an apple, tilt the pan, and slowly roll the apple in the candy mixture to coat the apple. Let excess drip off before setting on the wax paper lined cookie sheet to harden. Repeat dipping process with remaining apples.
- Once apples have cooled and hardened (15-20 minutes), use kitchen shears to cut marshmallows in shape of eyes (tear drop shape) and place on each apple. Then, place a #3 Tip
on a Black Icing Tube
and draw the ‘web’ onto each spider.
Serve right away. If too hard to bite into the apple cut into wedges. Makes 3-5 apples.
